La Casita by the Sea is a newly renovated cottage just 50 yards off Kikita Beach in the Mameyal neighborhood of Dorado, Puerto Rico.
This affordable vacation rental offers beautiful vistas and easy access to some of Puerto Rico's most popular attractions. From the rooftop sun deck, you will see the open ocean to the northwest, a sweeping beach all the way to Cataño and the San Juan skyline in the distance. On clear days you can see El Yunque, the home of our tropical rain forest. To the south you will see the town of Dorado and beyond, the karst hills (forested limestone rock formations) with the Cordillera Central mountain range in the distance.
Mameyal is a mixed community where people still fish at ocean's edge and in the mouth of the river. It is a safe and friendly neighborhood, though common sense should always be used when traveling. The owner lives just a short distance away in case a need arises during your visit. This is a lively place to stay, something is always growing in the garden; the coquis will lull you to sleep with their call and response; the roosters down the block will greet you in the morning; the iguanas sunbathe on the fences; the breeze rustles through the many palm trees; and after a day of sightseeing and playing in the sun, the soft bell of the neighborhood ice cream truck will lure you in for a sweet treat.
Live music from the local bar & grill can be heard some nights and the ocean's waves will beckon to you throughout your time at La Casita by the Sea.
We are located approximately 30 miles west of Old San Juan and the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, a 30-45 minute drive on Highway 22. With its central beach location and highway access, La Casita by the Sea provides a great hub for visiting the island. Easy day trip access to most of Puerto Rico enables you to go have fun exploring and still be able to return to home base for a good night's rest.
La Casita is a one unit cottage, so you will have the place all to yourself. It is a one bedroom, one bathroom cottage with small back room that could be used as an additional bedroom if desired. The cottage also has an open kitchenette area and dining room, a large rooftop sun deck, and a front porch with hooks for a hammock.
We are an eco-friendly site, with access to recycling and compost. We use only biodegradable, fragrance-free cleaning products.
